Communication Protocol

At the high school level, the main line of communication exists between the teacher and the student.  Teachers will reach out to parents if they are seeking feedback/information about a student, experiencing an issue, or to provide occasional updates regarding plans for the course.

• If the House Office or Dean notices a student is not present and they have not heard from the student's parents, the school will contact the family to verify a student's absence. 
• Assessment results and grades will be available in the Infinite Campus Student Management System.

• When emailing parents, FWHS emails will include the school name, the teacher name, and the course name. In the case of a phone call, the caller will identify the school, their name, and the subject.  

It is important for families to understand that Fairfield teachers have access to two email accounts.   One is  teachername@fairfieldschools.ORG and the other is teachername@fairfieldschools.NET.   

• All communication to teachers from parents and students should be sent to the .ORG email address.  
• Administration will communicate with families using Infinite Campus for general announcements and for messages intended for the entire school community.   Please make sure your contact information is updated in Infinite Campus!
• Teachers will post assignments and provide feedback to students both in class and on remote learning through Google Classroom.  
• Information about grades will be posted in Infinite Campus.
• Teachers will be sending emails to students at the student’s .NET address (the school assigned gmail account).  Students are responsible for monitoring their fairfieldschools.net email for communications from teachers and counseling staff.

• Teachers will respond to families and students in a timely manner, typically after 1 or 2 days and within one week, with the understanding that there may be extenuating circumstances.
• Teachers will communicate with students using the students' .net addresses, and via Google Classroom. Students may elect to forward their .net e-mail to a personal e-mail address; however, they should use their .net to initiate communication with their teachers' .org accounts. 

• Grades on summative assessments and tasks related to formative assessments/behavior/work habits can be found via Infinite Campus.
• When there is a pattern of concern, the teacher will reach out to the student via email at their .net account and then the parent/guardian, counselor, dean, and case manager, when applicable.

• Google Classroom is the central hub for communication for students and any links to other sites will be embedded in the students’ classwork. Information about useful resources and “most visited” sites will be provided by the school/classroom teacher.

• Assignments for a class period should be posted no later than the start of the class meeting time. Some tasks will be shared/scaffolded at the relevant time during the class period since it might be dependent upon a prior task being completed.
• Assessments, performance tasks, and individual assignments require instruction and therefore will be shared (either as a whole or in individual steps) at the appropriate time within the learning process. 
• Curriculum documents are available on the Fairfield Public Schools website.

Each school will have specific grade level/subject resources posted on their websites or their library websites.

• Students will find tutorials, databases, and other useful tools for their hybrid classroom experiences. 
• Parents or students with specific questions can direct them to the teacher or school counselor.  Additional support can be provided by the student’s House Principal, the Director of Pupil Services, or the Head Principal.
